2025 season · final grades are in
Every August, everyone has a ranking. Every January, most of them hope you forgot. We graded our 2025 preseason projections and the industry’s — player by player — on what actually happened. Player for player, our board was closer to the final result 299 times to the market’s 239 — with our biggest edges at wide receiver and tight end.
Of the 267 players our preseason board ranked 15 or more spots away from consensus draft position, how many finished closer to each side's call.
When two tight ends finished 25+ season points apart in 2025 — the calls that decide drafts — we had the right one first 90% of the time. Consensus draft order got 79%.
Across all 563 drafted players who took the field in 2025, our preseason rank landed closer to the final finish 299 times; the market’s draft position was closer 239 times. The rest were dead heats.
A bust: a top-24 pick at his position who finished 12 or more spots below where he was drafted. 2025 had 44 of them. Our preseason board had already ranked 29 lower than the market did.
The bigger our disagreement, the better it aged. On the 158 players we ranked 30 or more spots away from consensus draft position, the finish landed closer to our call 101 times, the market’s 57.
